About the Setting:
The irregularly shaped silver cob is held by four simple gold prongs within a smooth 14K yellow gold bezel, with a polished bail connecting to a fine cable chain, letting the coin's rough-struck surface remain fully visible from both sides.
About the Coin:
This 8 reale cob was hand-struck between crudely engraved dies from cast silver bullion, giving it the irregular shape and partial legends characteristic of coins recovered from the Atocha. The reverse shows a cross with castles and lions in the quarters, while the obverse carries a Hapsburg shield.
